The GeoTracker Mobile Mapping System

The GeoTracker Mobile Mapping system is mainly built on standard components. The component that is unique in the system is the GeoTracker control box that includes a computer, and an electrical interface to communicate with all the units/sensors.

The GeoTracker Mobile Mapping system consists of different sensors and software modules for data collection and data processing.

GeoTracker Road

The software module for data collection is called GeoTracker Road. This module is built on a true real-time platform for industrial automation and machine vision system that Swedvision have developed for industrial automation purpose. The use of this platform is the secret behind the good accuracy in the system.

GeoTracker Road instantly inform the user about all sensor status and the progress during data collection in an easy and user friendly way. There is also an extra module for real-time inventory in the field. This makes it possible to register and position different road and street assets in real time.

The base components that is need to get GeoTracker up and running, is a GNSS unit, inertial navigation system and a wheel speed sensor. What GeoTracker basically needs is serial GNSS data (NMEA format), a PPS-pulse and the AB phase data from an encoder mounted on the wheel.

GeoTracker Office

GeoTracker Office is built upon the standard Swedvision software platform that makes it easy to customize and add machine vision tools like different image tools, transformations etc. according to the customers requirement and needs.

GeoTracker Office is mainly an image viewer that displays captured images/Ladybug images and location data. The software also includes different tools for position calculations and postprocessing.

The module GeoTracker PCP (Point Cloud Processing) transforms the raw data from the laser measurement sensors into world coordinates in a standard LAS-format (LAS 1.2 or LAS 1.4). Everything is done with a quick batch function that makes it possible to run all captured data from a project in one step.

Ladybug Processing tool is stitching all the images together into a 360-degree panoramic image and have the ability to sticthing images from two separate Ladybug cameras into one image to get rid of the vehicle under the system. In the same process it is possible to coloring the point cloud from the scanners and do anonymization of people and vehicles.

The anonymization tool can be used as a separate tool for anonymization of other images. Other tools that you can find in GeoTracker Office is tools for converting OXTS RD-file format to Novatel Inertial Explorer, processing of Gocator data to LAS-format, writing of Exif Metadata to images and more.

There is also a GeoTracker viewer that gives you the opportunity to deliver your projects to a customer. This viewer only have viewer functions, but in all other ways it looks and works like the full GeoTracker Office version.

GeoTracker uses Novatel Inertial Explorer for post processing satellite and inertial data. There is also a less expensive solution using Novatel GrafNav in combination with RT Post-process (OxTS) for post processing.

For scanner calibration and processing of laser data we recommend to use available software modules from Terra Solid.
