The new GeoTracker V2 system

The new GeoTracker V2 system In early 2025, the GeoTracker V2 Mobile Mapping System was launched. With the new GeoTracker V2 system, you can collect accurate and dense data at highway speeds without disturbing other traffic. This means a safer working environment without sacrificing precision and accuracy. The system consists of a completely new mounting, high-performance RIEGL VUX-2HA laser scanners and a newly developed console for data storage. The development of the new system is based on 10 years of experience and is lightweight and easy to move between different types of vehicles. All wiring is done in a cable harness with multi-connectors, which also makes it easier. The mount has a completely unique and innovative solution when it comes to camera mount. During transport, the tower with the GNSS antenna and the Ladybug camera is folded down under an aerodynamically shaped cover to protect the equipment and reduce air resistance. The tower is very stable and robust, ensuring that the camera’s position does not change. The locking in the raised position is also indicated by a sensor that warns if the tower is not raised correctly. It is possible to freely choose which IMU/GNSS unit you want to use and from the start, holes are prepared for several different units. As in previous GeoTracker systems, it is easy to connect other sensors as the entire system is based on accessible components that make it easy to share GNSS data, 1PPS and power supply, which is crucial when connecting other sensors. The system can be used right from the start together with the existing GeoTracker Gocator scanner system and of course the GeoTracker dual Ladybug camera system to obtain a composite seamless panoramic image without measuring systems or vehicles being visible. The power supply in the new system is significantly lower, which means that the system can be run on a GeoTracker battery pack if needed.

Integration of the LadyBug 6 camera

Integration of the LadyBug 6 camera GeoTracker has now implemented support for LadyBug 6. Ladybug 6 is the leading high-resolution camera designed to capture 360-degree spherical images in all-weather conditions. LadyBug 6 has a resolution of 72 Megapixel (MP), which means almost 2.5 times higher resolution than the previous version LadyBug 5. Higher resolution means that small details, such as signs are readable at significantly longer distances. The integration of LadyBug 6 posed new challenges in terms of transfer speed, storage capacity, and configuration of compression algorithms. Evaluation of the Riegl scanner RIEGL VUX-1HA22 with GeoTracker

Evaluation of the Riegl scanner RIEGL VUX-1HA22 with GeoTracker The first evaluation with a Riegl scanner together with the GeoTracker system was done already 15 years ago. At this time, mobile laser scanning technology was new and there were no Mobile Mapping customers willing to take on the extra costs that came with this high-end scanner. For some time now, the market has been demanding higher relative measurement accuracy and point density. Naturally, this means that interest from our customers has increased significantly. The integration consisted mostly of development on the software side and the evaluation resulted in a functioning GeoTracker software that worked excellently both when collecting data and georeferencing Riegl rxp-files in GeoTracker Office. With this step, GeoTracker is ready for the development of a new platform based on multiple Riegl scanners.

GeoTracker will be used to collect 17.000 km road network in Sweden

GeoTracker will be used to collect 17.000 km road network in Sweden WSP has won a large project to collect mobile mapping data for the main road network in Sweden. The client is the Swedish Transport Administration and the mission includes laser scanning and 360 panorama images intended for design and maintenance. WSP will use the Geo Tracker system, which is developed to perform large data collections in an easy way. The software package GeoTracker Office also speed’s up the postprocessing and preparation of georeferenced point clouds and images. Work began in December 2015 and scheduled for completion in 2017.

Large data collections for asset management in municipalities

Large data collections for asset management in municipalities WSP use the GeoTracker system for inventory of complete road networks in many Swedish municipalities. GeoTrackar is built to make everything easy and fast both in the field and at the office. The user can process both panorama images and colored point clouds for a complete project with a few mouse clicks…

Second GeoTracker system delivered to WSP

Second GeoTracker system delivered to WSP The 15 of September 2014 Swedvision delivered the second GeoTracker system to WSP Sweden. This system will be placed at WSP in Halmstad and will mainly be used for surveying in road design projects and data collection for road/street maintenance. The system includes an upgrade with two extra SICK LMS511 scanners (total number of scanners in the WSP systems are six but it is possible to add up to eight scanners in a GeoTracker system). This new upgrade will give even more dense data and make it possible to capture data in higher speed. A new scanner function called “interlaced mode” also gives an outstanding point distribution. Both WSP systems includes an OxTs Inertial+ 250 Hz that gives 250 position and orientation measurement every second. This is also a key to a successful data capture. As if that’s not enough the GeoTracker system now have a new very precise odometer solution. This new solution makes it possible to measure and time stamp traveled distance with the incredible accuracy of 0.5 mm.   For more information please contact: Swedvision Automation AB Phone: +46 302 51660E-mail: sales@geotracker.se

New GeoTracker Mount

New GeoTracker Mount In January 2014 Swedvison did a full scale demo with the new GeoTracker Mount. WSP attended as a customer to see if the new assembly was ready for use. Everything appeared to work very well and WSP have ordered the assembly. The delivery takes place in March 2014. – This step will give us the opportunity to move the Mobile Mapping system to other kind of vehicles in an much easier way. There are many advantages with this upgrade and after two years of successful Mobile Mapping production with our prototype system we finally have a complete and customized system says Magnus Larson, WSP.

Colored laser data with Ladybug5

Colored laser data with Ladybug5 During the spring of 2014 there will be a very interesting software update for GeoTracker Office. The big news is that this update includes the possibility to automatically color a point cloud from the Ladybug 5 system. Colored laser data provides many advantages during all kind of mapping and the objects become considerably easier to to find and digitize. A colored point cloud is also much easier to use in Autodesk Civil 3D or Bentley Civil Power as support during the design.

WSP buys the new GeoTracker Ladybug system

WSP buys the new GeoTracker Ladybug system WSP buys the new GeoTracker Ladybug camera system and becomes one of the first providers in the world using the new 30 MPixel Ladybug5 camera for Mobile Mapping.WSP also have the GeoTracker 5MPixel Stereo camera system and 4 SICK LMS511 laser scanners mounted on their vehicle. In addition to this they also have a two channels ground penetrating radar and all sensors are controlled by the data capture application GeoTracker Road. “This impressive 360° Ladybug5 camera will together with all the other sensors give us a very flexible and complete Mobile Mapping system. I’m sure this is a good investment and I can’t wait to run the first project“ , says Magnus Larson at WSP.  (http://www.bilskanning.se).

New GeoTracker roof mount with Ladybug 5

New GeoTracker roof mount with Ladybug 5 Swedvision releases the new GeoTracker roof mount with a Ladybug5 spherical camera on the top! The new mount encapsulates all sensors into one integrated and compact platform. This makes it very easy to calibrate and move the system from one vehicle to another. The mount is also easy to put up and the scissor lift will raise the scanner system to a good height above ground, even with a normal car.
